Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of albums, Union cases, wall frames, and other photograph housings.

3 empty CDV albums and one "Fairy Album" containing 12 gem-sized tintype portraits of people. -- One Rare quarter plate Union frame with geometric design [Berg 7-22] containing what appears to be an ambrotype (could be a tintype) portrait of a family. -- 2 quarter plate wooden frames, one having mat, glass, and preserver attached. -- 6 Union cases including a double-ninth plate figural case housing 2 ambrotypes, a ninth plate figural case containing a tintype, a ninth plate geometric/scroll case containing a hand-tinted ambrotype, a ninth plate oval figural case containing a tintype, a sixteenth plate oval floral case housing a paper portrait, and a sixteenth plate geometric/scroll case containing an ambrotype. Also accompanying the lot is a REPRODUCTION sixth plate patriotic case containing no image. -- 4 leatherette or pressed paper cases including an empty quarter plate example, 2 empty sixth plate examples (one by Wm. Shew), and a sixteenth plate example containing a daguerreotype. -- And one ninth plate daguerreotype portrait of a young lady housed under mat, glass, and preserver only; no case. -- Together, 19 image housings, some containing images. Conditions vary.
