A Historic 18 Karat Tricolor Gold Open Face Jacquemart Automaton Quarter Repeater Pocket Watch Purportedly Owned by Marquis de Lafayette
Austria, Maker "IK" or "JK", Bearing Date Mark for 1805

50.00 mm case diameter, white enamel dial, black Arabic numerals with outer chapter ring calibrated to 60 minutes, gold outer border, plate between the gongs engraved, "Mq de La Fayette", accented with tricolor gold Jacquemart automatons striking bells depicting Orpheus and Eurydice above the altar of Cupid with doves and a flower basket, crown and stem are depressed to activate quarter repeating function, 18 karat gold guilloche back cover with cartouche engraved “M de”, gilt brass cuvette with decorative figural hinge, fusee with chain, verge escapement.
Inner case back stamp: A_(obcured)1258 K18 II.

Accompanied by a yellow gold watching winding key in the figure of General Lafayette.

Accompanied by a fitted tooled leather case, the interior inset with a silver medallion engraved, "Montre +1750+de Marie-Joseph Marquis de La Fayette.= Monogr' M-J de LF
