Late 18th Century
the portrait of Ebenezer Morse, attributed to John Johnston, inscribed verso, "Rev Ebenezer Morse/ 1718-1801/ By John Johnston/ 1752-1818," and bearing old label inscribed in ink, "Rev. Ebenezer Morse/ born in Medfield, March 2, 1717-18/ Graduated at Harvard College, 1737/ Settled at Shrewsbury, near Boylston/ in 1743. Dismissed as a Tory in / 1775. In later life practiced/ Medicine. Married Perris Bush/ in 1745. Died Jan 3. 1802.", oil on canvas, framed; the portrait of Dr. Eliakim Morse, attributed to Christian Gullager, inscribed verso, "Dr. Eliakim Morse/ Born 1759-Died Jan 1858/ by Christian Gullager", oil on panel, framed; and the portrait of Mary (Eddy) Morse, attributed to John Johnston, inscribed verso, "Mrs. Eliakim Morse/ (Mary Eddy)/ 1767-1860/ by John Johnston/ 1752-1818", oil on panel, framed.
