A Sewn and Stitched Cloth and Leather Sea Captain Doll
Probably Early 19th Century
with leather hat and painted face, accompanied by two old hand-written notes in ink, the first inscribed, "In Grand. Weston's family-/ Fletcher - Sawtelle - you can see/ from the costume how old it is / Perhaps a museum would like it some day?", the second inscribed, "very old doll/ in G. Weston's family-/ must be 1790-1820-/ a collector's item."
