A. Rodier, After Colton's American Atlas, Native Americans Overlooking A Changing Landscape
Circa 1876
after the work by C.E. Doepler, signed, "Rodier", l.r., dated, "1876", l.l., and "1776", l.r., with Museum of American Folk Art label verso, typed, "Indians in a Landscape Overlooking a Valley/ A. Rodier/ 1886/ Oil on canvas/ Isaac Rogers extended loan/ cat # 4", also with label inscribed, "Late 19 C oil on academy boarad/ Signed A. Rodier/ C. 1856/ Birds Eye Maple Frame/ Edman No. I", oil on canvas mounted to academy board, framed; sold together with a matted and framed copy of the engraved frontispiece of Colton's American Atlas, published by J.H. Colton, New York, New York, 1855, by C.E. Doepler, engraved by C. Wise, and a few loose pages from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas, Johnson & Ward, New York, New York, published 1864.
