Lot Description
CLEMENS, Samuel L. ("Mark Twain") (1835-1910). A Dog's Tale. New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1904.
8vo. Original red cloth stamped in black and white (very minor darkening along edges); DUST JACKET (darkening along edges, very minor losses to spine ends).
FIRST EDITION, in a later dust jacket ca 1907, listing Twain's Christian Science on the rear panel, which was published that same year. A Dog's Tale was first published in the December 1903 issue of Harper's Magazine and was later extracted and published in pamphlet form by London's National Anti-Vivisection Society. This organization campaigned to end animal testing. It was followed at the end of 1904 by an expanded edition published by Harper & Brothers. BAL 3483.
