FIRST QUARTO EDITION IN ENGLISH, the second published edition, preceding the folio edition of 1744. Robert Boyle is regarded as one of the founders of modern chemistry as well as of the scientific method and is best known for Boyle's law, which describes the relationship between the pressure and volume of confined gases.
