4to. Printed in four colors (spotting throughout, corner dampstaining.) Contemporary pebbled calf gilt (light rubbing, very minor sunning to spine).

FIRST EDITION. Oliver Byrne was a mathematician and civil engineer whose colored graphic explanations of each geometric Euclidean principle were considered to be his most innovative work. The combination of color and geometry was of particular influence during the 20th century on the Bauhaus and De Stijl art movements, especially the works of Wassily Kandinsky, László Moholy-Nagy, and Piet Mondrian.
