BLISS, William P. (b. ca 1840), photographer. Cabinet card of Essa-Queta or Striker, Chief of the Kiowa Apache. Fort Sill, Indian Territory, ca 1879.
Cabinet photograph on cardstock mount with W.P. Bliss's Fort Sill, Indian Territory imprint on verso and faint penciled notation. A studio portrait of Kiowa Apache Chief Essa-Queta, or Striker, also known as Ta-Ho, wearing an Army musician's hat, jackets with shoulder boards, and a large silver cross. He holds a tomahawk with heart cut-out in blade.
