The pair of meiping vases, finely decorated with underglaze blue, depicting a crane and deer in harmonious confrontation, embodying the auspicious allegory He Lu Tong Chun (鶴鹿同春, "Cranes and Deer in Spring") – a traditional celebration of longevity and prosperity, the other side with a bird perched among peony blossoms, with a six-character Qianlong mark to the underside.
