A Rare Pair of Japanese Satsuma-Type Kogo, Yabu Meizan; Meiji Period
Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Of flattened circular form, one decorated with boys at various pursuits before a Tango no Sekku (Boy's Day) display, the interior with birds and flowering branches; the other with girls before a Hinamatsuri (Girl's Day) display of dolls; the interior also with birds and flowering plants; undersides with gilt seal mark in a double square.
Diameter 3 1/4 in., 8.3 cm.
