A Large Japanese Carved and Stained Wood Standing Figure of Kannon Bosatsu, Heian Period, 11th/12th Century
Heian Period, 11th/12th Century
The tall, slender figure dressed in flowing robes; his left arm extended with clasped fist, his right arm raised and extended with palm open; the forehead inset with a clear crystal third eye; all hair combed into a high tiered coiffure, the face carved with a calm expression.
Height 25 1/2 in., 64.8 cm.
