Presentation copy from Harry and Caresse Crosby to Harry's uncle, J.P. Morgan, Jr. (1867-1943), inscribed during the month of the Wall Street Crash in 1929. During his lifetime, Morgan was one of the richest men in America, and Harry "aspired to his uncle's power and achievement, and to his manner as well. J. Pierpont Morgan was a great gentleman, but a man forward in his opinions, strongly held. He was intimidating, gruff but polite, generous, knowing, expansive, and fond of his nephew and godson."
