Lot Description
[Art] [Vasarely, Victor] Lambert, Jean-Clarence. Code
(Paris): Le Soleil Noir, (1967). First and limited deluxe edition, #123/150 copies on Arches paper (from a total of 1,525). Folio. Illustrated with a suite of eight color, black and white, and gilt prints (variously utilizing screen-print, embossing, and etching), each signed by Vasarely at bottom, and numbered 123/150; each about 15 x 11 1/4 in. (381 x 286 mm). Loose as issued in original gray cloth fall-down-back box, plastic spine label lettered in gilt, front board composed of double-sided plastic windowed chemise holding plates; accompanying 12mo text booklet by Lambert opposite plates in recessed holder (in original stiff embossed-printed yapp fore-edge wrappers); front board chemise now loose; first plate with light mat burn; text unopened.
A near-fine copy of the deluxe edition of French artist and author Jean-Clarence Lambert's experimental text Code, featuring a suite of eight signed prints by the grandfather and leader of Op Art, French-Hungarian artist, Victor Vasarely (1906-97).
