New York, January 12, 1912. Single oblong sheet, approximately 3 x 8 1/4 in. (76 x 209 mm). Partially-printed Astor Trust Company check, signed by Theodore Roosevelt, drawn on his account for $25 and payable to the Cove Neck Association. Cove Neck, on Long Island Sound, New York, was the site of President Roosevelt's home, Sagamore Hill. Roosevelt purchased the 155-acre plot in 1883, selling parcels to relatives, and retaining 95 acres for his 22-room home. During Roosevelt's presidency, Sagamore Hill became known as the "Summer White House", where he hosted numerous dignitaries and diplomatic missions.
