Illustrated with 62 engraved plates and numerous engraved in-text plates, by J. Mahoney, F. Barnard, F.A. Fraser, C. Green, and others. Publisher's limp printed pictorial blue-green wrappers; Parts 3, 29, 31, 32, 33, 42 (remnants of rear wrapper present), and 44 in facsimile wrappers; rear wrapper of Nos. 15 and 17 in facsimile; lower portion of front wrapper of Part 30 in facsimile; loss in lower corner of rear wrapper of Part 35; rear wrapper of Part 41 separated; small loss in lower front wrapper of Part 48; other scattered repairs, losses, and wear to wrappers; some text leaves unopened; scattered soiling, creasing, and wear to text leaves and plates; in ten three-quarter black cloth fall-down-back boxes. A complete set of the "Household Edition" of the works of Charles Dickens, in their 101 monthly parts and scarce original wrappers. Published beginning in July, 1871, only one year following Dickens's death, Chapman and Hall commissioned new illustrations for this edition, and included in the final volume John Forster's biography of Dickens.
