First edition in original monthly parts, early issue (with early issue points: "Delight" twice printed on p. 284; "Capatin" in last line of p. 324; "Octo 1847" on Dombey Advertiser in Part XIII; "if" omitted in line nine in Part XIV; two-line errata in Nos. XIX/XX; but with later issue point: page number "431" present in Part XIV; additionally, "Normanby" on dedication leaf, not called for by Hatton & Cleaver). No. V with 12-line errata. All ads present, except: lacking ad slip at rear of No. XI, ad slip following plates in No. XVI, pp. 1/2 of C. Cox catalogue at rear of No. XVII excised. 8vo. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette title-page, and 38 engraved plates by Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz"). Publisher's limp green printed pictorial wrappers, scattered light to moderate wear and soiling, scattered small repairs along spines and extremities of some parts; scattered minor spotting to text; rear ad in No. XVIII loose; edges of plates darkened in Nos.
