A Group of Three Persian Silver Boxes
Iran, Mid-20th Century

variously engraved with foliate motifs, birds, deer, and masques, comprising a large round lidded box, marked to underside with .840 standard mark in Farsi and Persian script; a small round lidded box, marked to underside with maker's mark and "84" standard mark; and a commemorative rectangular cigarette box with gilt-washed interior, the inside of lid engraved, "Anotrecher Collegue/ Le Colonel D'E.M.Aka/ Teheran 1941-43", and with engraved signatures of army comrades, marked to underside with .840 standard mark in Farsi.
