Lot Description

A Group of Eight Persian Silver Table Articles
Various Makers, Iran, Mid-20th Century

comprising two footed repousse bowls, one of oval lobed form, with two scrolled handles and reticulated body, decorated with birds and flowers, paw-form feet, marked "84" for the .840 silver standard, along with Persian script, the other bowl of round form with scalloped rim, decorated with flowers, birds, and roundels with pierced surrounds, on scrolled feet, marked "84" for the .840 silver standard, along with Persian script; four footed dishes with pierced or reticulated rims and engraved with floral or foliate motifs, the largest dish possibly silver, but unmarked, the other three dishes apparently silver, one marked with the .840 standard mark in Farsi, the other two unmarked; and a pair of raised compotes or dishes, each with cast rose motifs to upper and lower rims and niello to recessed areas, both possibly silver, marked "Fadavi" to undersides.
