A Finely Decorated English Scrimshaw Nautilus Shell
C. H. Wood, 1850
the shell decorated with the Royal Coat of Arms of Great Britain and the city coat of arms for London, the front of the shell decorated with the scene of St. George slaying a dragon above a poem, the side of the shell with the London coat of arms with a round cartouche surrounding the inscription "The whole of the embellishment on this beautiful specimen of the Nautilus are executed with no other instrument than a penknife patronized by Her Majesty the Queen, the right Hon(ble) the Lord Mayors of London and York. 1850. C.H. Wood', with an associated silver-plate stand.
