In Imagines... comprises a series of portraits engraved by Theodoor Galle which were based on the collection of coins, marbles, and gems previously owned by Italian humanist and archaeologist Fulvio Orsini; this collection was donated to the Vatican Library upon Orsini's death in 1600. Each portrait is accompanied by commentary by Johannes Faber detailing the object upon which each was based.
