Lot Description
[Philosophy] Smith, Adam Essays on Philosophical Subjects
Dublin: Printed for Messrs. Wogan, et al., 1795. First Dublin edition. 8vo (216 x 127 mm). Modern half calf; some very minor soiling, small tape repair to title page verso.
Printed in the same year as the first London edition. Essays on Philosophical Subjects comprises a series of essays gathered together by Smith's literary executors, Joseph Black and James Hutton, which they believed to have once been intended for a longer work on a history of the liberal sciences. A short biographical account by Dugald Stewart included here was one of the first ever printed about the life of Adam Smith.
This lot is located in Chicago.
