[Literature] Dickens, Charles. A Tale Of Two Cities


London: Chapman and Hall, 1859. 8vo. First edition in book form (p.213 misnumbered as p.113 and signature "b" present on the List of Plates leaf.) Frontispiece, etched title, and 14 plates by H.K. Browne. (Spotting and light toning to plates, some to title.) Late 19th century half black calf, marbled boards (ends a bit worn). Provenance: ownership signature on title-page. Gimbel A142; Smith I:13.

A Tale of Two Cities was originally published in 31 weekly installments in Dickens's literary periodical, All the Year Round, from April to November 1859.
