London: Printed by J.L. for Richard Whitaker, 1640. Later edition. Small folio (287 x 191 mm). Bound with: The End of Nero and the Beginning of Galba. Modern full calf with spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands; corner loss to title page slightly affecting text, soiling, dampstaining; gift inscription from Charles Whitleyto Frank Bond.
Cornelius Tacitus was a Roman historian who is today regarded as one of the greatest historians of the era by modern scholars. The Annals was completed shortly before his death and covers the period from the death and funeral of Augustus to the reign of Nero.
