Marburg: Joh. Henrich Stocks, 1750. 8vo. Wood-engraved frontispiece. Contemporary German vellum, upper covers tooled in various floral designs, filled in with remnants of hand-painting, all edges gilt and gauffered, lacking clasps; toning throughout.; morroco book-plate of Estelle Doheny (1875-1958), prominent American book collector; prelims featuring manuscript notation related to the Kovel family, ca 1770s, in German and in English.

The Doheny copy of a German"Bauern Einbände”, commonly known as a Peasant binding.
