Amsterdam: Sebatstiaan Petzold, 1701-(02). First edition. 40 parts bound in one. 8vo. Each part 8 pp., and with separate title-pages. With woodcuts by Romeyn de Hooghe. Main title-page printed in red and black. Full contemporary vellum, joints and extremities worn; two bookseller descriptions mounted on front paste-down; printed book-plate "M.L." featuring a dodo bird laid-in; wormholes at lower margin affecting about half of text; scattered foxing and closed tears to fore-edge; contemporary ownership signature on rear paste-down.
An interesting retelling of Aesop's fables, satirizing contemporary European political affairs, and featuring engravings by Dutch artist Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708).
