Lot Description

[Children's & Illustrated] Dahl, Roald. My Uncle Oswald

London: Michael Joseph, 1979. First edition, inscribed by Dahl, "To Neil, with love." 8vo. Original navy blue cloth; publisher's price-clipped dust jacket (sunning to spine, spotting to inner flaps, very light rubbing).

My Uncle Oswald revolves around the character Oswald, who had previously appeared in Dahl's short stories "The Visitor" and "Bitch." One of Dahl's most popular works of adult fiction, it has been described as "a festival of bad taste that is at heart so innocent that we soon forgive it and enjoy ourselves" (Christopher Lehmann-Haupt, The New York Times, 29 April 1980).

This lot is located in Chicago.
