[CIVIL WAR]. 5 CDVs of Washington, DC, including the Grand Review in May 1865.


Lot comprised of 5 CDVs, four of which are credited on verso to Mathew Brady or E. & H.T. Anthony. Scenes include:

2 CDVs of the Grand Review in Washington, DC, May 1865, each with imprint of E. & H.T. Anthony. The first includes a penciled notation on verso, "Grand Review of the Great Veteran Armies of Grand and Sherman at Washington on the 23 and 24th May 1865." The second includes a penciled notation on mount recto, "Another view of the position occupied by Gen. Grant and the President at Great (?) Review (?)." -- CDV, "Capitol of the United States (Fronting the City)" as captioned on applied paper label on verso. With 2-cent US Internal Revenue stamp on verso, with ink stamp form "Hudson Taylor, Jun 14 1865." The Capitol appears to be draped in mourning. -- CDV, view showing the east front of the US Capitol. Brady & Co. imprint on recto and verso. -- CDV, view of the US Treasury Building and the Willard Hotel. Verso imprint of Brady. -- Together, 5 CDVs of Washington, DC.
