Lot Description
[NATIVE AMERICANS]. Cabinet card of "Big Jim" posed with a Forehand and Wadsworth Army revolver.
Cabinet photograph on cardstock mount showing a Native American subject standing in a studio setting, holding a Forehand and Wadsworth Army revolver, which is exceptionally rare to see in a photograph of the period. Uncredited, ca 1870s-1890s.
Another example of this photograph is held at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas, and the subject is identified as "Alexandro" or "Big Jim." The image also includes the ink stamp of Colorado gunsmith and trader John P. Lower.
