Lot Description
[AUTOGRAPHS]. A group of misc. European and Russian documents and autographs.
Assortment of items, 1800s-1900s (bulk 20th-century), including autographs, documents, publications, photographs, and more, highlighted by the following:
Red string-bound scrapbook, 27pp, 14 x 11 in., identified on cover with modern label: "US Documents relating to business, stocks, bonds, etc. / High ranking officials writings. Russian and Romanian early 1800s to 1938, Scrapbook. Stalin, Lenin, Romanian Kings and Queens writings." One signature identified as Vladimir Lenin. A large number of additional items housed within such as letters, newspaper clippings, stock certificates, and more.
Typescript in Russian (not translated), approx. 22pp, 8 3/4 x 14 in. (heavy toning, brittleness, possibly incomplete). Housed in folder with manuscript notation: "this is the original of the screenplay 'Devji Gozy' [sp?] (Virgins Mountains) by the last Russian screenplay writer Eugeny Chirikov. The date is 1918. This is the first film censored out by the soviets. The film is lost now. / I published it in the The New Review #180 (New York) But this is the original print text." This note may be in the hand of Roman Borisovich Goul (1896-1986), editor of “Novyi Zhurnal” ("New Magazine" or "New Review"), the largest journal of Russian emigration.
[With:] Jacques Bucks Buhnenkopfe / Gallerie Frauenkopfe. [Selbstverlag, Zürich, 1903.] In German. Illustrated linen folder with 24 cards illustrating female heads as sample templates for various roles and parts (heavy wear to folder especially at spine, interior with heavy wear, cards generally clean). -- More than a dozen other ephemeral items.
