Lot Description
[MILITARIA]. Quarter plate tintype of a pair of pards incl. 7th New York National Guardsman.
Crisp image of 2 soldiers, one wearing crossed chest straps, canteen sling, and haversack over his militia/state jacket, with headgear appearing to have the numeral "3" affixed at the front and an interesting rectangular belt plate which appears to be a New York Militia National Guard plate with script capital letters "NG" at center and company designation "THIRD." His buddy stands with his hand on his shoulder, wearing a different uniform including an oval belt plate with large script "H" at center. (Image rather clear, with some scratches and areas of abrasion not appearing to affect subjects; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (spots of discoloration, wear, loss). Interior of case with pencil inscription reading, "May 1861 / Jn. Washington."
Estate of David O'Reilly, Old Bridge, New Jersey
