An Assorted Collection of Daguerreotypes, Tintypes, Ambrotype, and Lantern Slide Plates of Sayre Family Interest
Mid-to-Late 19th Century
comprising a leather bi-fold containing cabinet card photographs of William Heysham Sayre and Elizabeth Mitchell Sayre, both inscribed and dated verso, "Wm H. Sayre/ Nov. 1874" and "Mrs. E.M. Sayre/ Nov. 1874"; two daguerreotypes, an ambrotype, and tintype depicting William Heysham Sayre, Jr., housed in embossed leather or gutta percha cases, the tintype in gilt locket case with hairwork; two small daguerreotypes and a tintype likely depicting Elizabeth Mitchell Sayre or another Sayre family member, one daguerreotype in an embossed leather case, and the the other house in a gilt locket case, the tintype in a gilt locket case with hairwork; a daguerreotype of a painted portrait miniature of an unidentified gentleman, executed in the late 18th century, and possibly by James Peale (1749-1831), housed in an embossed leather case; a tintype of a young seated infant, housed in an embossed leather case; approximately 93 small tintypes depicting various children and groups of children, some on tricycles, housed in a cardboard "Japanese Magic Boats" box; and fifteen lantern slide plates by Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, New York, depicting various landscape and city scenes from travels to the Basque Region of Spain, developed by Charles R. Pancoast and S. Hudson Chapman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
