Lot Description
A One of a Kind Michael Jordan Signed Autograph Edward Larson 1989 Whirligig Folk Art (Beckett Authentication Services)
For the Michael Jordan collector who thought they had everything, this unique piece of folk art was crafted by artist Edward Larson in 1989 and features Jordan with his trademark tongue out dunking on Detroit Pistons Bad Boy Bill Laimbeer.
Known for his dynamic windmill dunks, art imitates basketball in this whirligig as Air Jordan takes flight when the windmill is set in motion sending the Jordan figure into flight over Laimbeer. The artist's seeming lack of sports fandom is evident as Laimbeer's name is misspelled and is outfitted in Celtics green.
Jordan added an impressive large flowing signature to the base measuring 2 x 5 3/4 inches that has been authenticated Beckett Authentication Services. Of the countless numbers of items Jordan has signed in his lifetime, this piece is likely one of the quirkiest that the Bulls legend has complimented with his distinctive autograph.
Artwork: 36 x 17 x 42.
Base: 12 x 16 x 16
