Lot Description

A July 24, 1983 New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals George Brett Pine Tar Game Original Ticket Stub (PSA 1)

An uncommon artifact from one of the most controversial and memorable incidents in baseball history. On July 24, 1983 at Yankee Stadium, Kansas City's George Brett belted a dramatic home run in the 9th inning but the blast was nullified by the umpires due to excessive pine tar on his bat — leading to a enraged charge out of the dugout by Brett. The Royals protested the decision, and the game was resumed weeks later on August 18, with the home run eventually upheld.

This lot is located in Chicago.
