Two Chinese Embroidered Silk 'Silver Pheasant' Rank Badges, Buzi, 19th Century
清中晚期 刺綉五品文官白鹇補子兩幅
19th Century

The first a example from Daoguang period (1821-1850), worked in satin stitch, the second an example from Guangxu period (1875-1908), worked in gold and silver threads. Both representing the fifth civil rank, depicting the bird upon a rock amongst foaming waves and the Eight Buddhist Emblems.
Larger 12 5/8 x 13 1/8 in., 32 x 33.3 cm.
