A Silver-Mounted Oak Walking Stick Made Of The Original Timbers From Independence Hall, Presented To Rev. Thomas H. Stockton (1808-1868)
Dated, "1855"
the silver-mounted handle engraved, "Rev. Thos. H. Stockton/ presented by his Friend/ W.R.S./ A.D. 1855," and "Made of the/ Original timbers/ of/ Independence Hall," accompanied by an embossed leather-bound copy of Pastor Alexander Clark, Memory's Tribute to the Life, Character and Work of the Rev. Thomas H. Stockton. Spoken in the First Methodist Church, Pittsburgh, Sabbath, October 25, 1868 (New York: Samuel R. Wells and Springfield, Ohio: A.H. Bassett, Methodist Book Concern, 1869), the frontispiece inscribed in ink, "To My Dear Friend & Brother/ Thos. H. Stockton/ of Phila-/ From Alex. Clark/ Feb. 27, 1869."
