A Needlework Sampler
Worked By Phebe Giles, June 23, 1826

worked with polychrome silk threads on linen ground, with alphabet, over pious verse flanked by potted flowers, over oval reserve inscribed, "Phebe Giles her sampler aged seven years/ duty fear and love we owe to God above June 23 1826," flanked by two fruit trees, above a depiction of a large brick house surrounded by bats, birds, peacocks, dogs, trees, flowers, and potted plants, all bordered by meandering flowering vine, framed.

19 x 13 1/2 inches, 30 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches (frame).
