A Chippendale Carved Walnut Desk And Bookcase
Philadelphia And Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Circa 1760-1770
in two parts, the upper section with broken arch pediment, centered by carved bust of George Whitefield (1714-1770), above swagged curtain with tassels and flanked by carved rosettes and series of carved moldings, over molded top above blind fretwork, above two paneled doors flanked by canted and fluted corners, the lower section with slant front revealing a fitted interior with paneled prospect door, over a series of graduated long drawers, on molded base with ogee feet.
Height 109 3/4 x width 42 x depth 23 inches.
