8vo. Hand-colored aquatint frontispiece and 35 hand-colored plates by Isaac, Robert & George Cruikshank, 21 wood-engraved vignettes, 6pp. engraved musical notation on 3 folding sheets. 20th century red levant gilt, all edges gilt, gilt-stamped by Zhaensdorf; morocco-backed slipcase.
FIRST EDITION, second issue with footnote on p.9 and first sheet of music unnumbered. Abbey Life 281; Cohn 262; Tooley 196.

SIGNED BY ROBERT CRUIKSHANK on the mount. Provenance: J. Barton Townsend (bookplate). "A rare print, said to be unknown by bibliographers" (sale note, Parke-Bernet Galleries, 26 February 1942, lot 188). Erroneously catalogued as being signed in the hand of George Cruikshank.
[With:] CRUIKSHANK, George. Autograph letter, to Editor of the London Times and to Justice Fuller, n.p., n.d. 2pp. on a single sheet, 8vo. WITH 3 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY CRUIKSHANK. Both letters relate to the sending of orphan girls to Canada and the U.S.
