8vo. Original black cloth lettered in green; dust jacket (few short tears to spine ends, small chip to rear panel). Provenance: John Talbot Gernon (morocco bookplate).

FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. The Murders in Praed Street is one of the earliest novels to center on the famous detective Dr. Lancelot Priestley, who would ultimately feature in 72 novels over 36 years. It was the basis for the 1936 British crime film Twelve Good Men. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone.
