8vo. Engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette title-page, and 14 engraved plates by Hablot Knight Browne. (Plates moderately toned.) Half brick red calf over brick red cloth-covered boards, red and brown morocco spine labels, stamped in gilt, top edge gilt, other edges uncut, stamp-signed by Riviere & Son (joints and spine ends rubbed).

FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, with the following first issue points: "affectionately" misspelled on p.134 and page 213 mis-numbered "113", but with "b" signature omitted on List of Plates leaf. Smith I, 13; Eckel, pp.86-90.
