8vo. Engraved frontispiece, vignette title-page and 38 illustrations by J.K. Browne ("Phiz"), with the 10 "dark" plates. (Marginal browning and some dampstaining to plates, a few heavily toned, offsetting to text.) Contemporary half calf, marbled boards, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, red morocco lettering-piece gilt, others gilt, all edges marbled (fore-corners rubbed). Provenance: Alfred W. Wood (ownership signature dated 1865).
