3 volumes, 12mo (165 x 102 mm). EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH 30 ORIGINAL WATERCOLORS AND 30 ORIGINAL PENCIL SKETCHES by Georges Pavis. Contemporary tan straight-grain morocco gilt, upper covers decorated with quills or branches and line flourishes in gilt, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, top edges gilt, others uncut, bound by René Kieffer with bookbinder's ticket on front free endpaper corners (light rubbing to a few corners, some light sunning to spines).
LIMITED EDITION, number 912 of 1600 copies. CONTAINING 60 ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS. Georges Pavis was a French painter, illustrator, and humorist who was known for his charming illustrations, as seen here with these erotically light-hearted drawings to illustrate Ronsard's love poems, originally published in 1584. IN AN ART DECO BINDING BY THE RENOWNED FRENCH BOOKBINDER, Renév Kieffer (1876-1963).
