Invitations to an exhibition of Motherwell's etchings at Knoedler & Company in New York City on 25 April to 25 May 1989 and a dinner honoring Motherwell at the Grolier Club on 25 April, a group of 4 handwritten letters from Arion Press founder Andrew Hoyem to David Hayman relating to the book's production, a prospectus for the 1988 Arion Press printing of The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, 3 typewritten transcripts of interviews conducted with Robert Motherwell by David Hayman, a large group of slides and photographs of Motherwell's artwork (some of which appear in the 1988 Arion Press printing of Ulysses), and others.

David Hayman (1927-2024) was a noted Joyce scholar and a Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His work was invaluable to the creation of the Arion Press Ulysses, which included 40 original etchings by American artist Robert Motherwell. Known for his admiration of Joyce, Motherwell kept numerous copies of Ulysses in his personal library and was known for incorporating referencing to it in his own artistic works.
