8vo. Contemporary half olive green morocco, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, gilt-lettering in 2, others gilt (rubbing, toning, both hinges starting on volume 1 with front free endpaper detached, rear hinge started on volume 10).
LIMITED EDITION, number 36 of 150 copies of the "Autograph Edition" on Holland paper.
[Tipped in]: PEPYS. Autograph manuscript signed ("S. Pepys") dated 9 August 1670. 1p., small 4to, partial fold separations with no loss. In full: "These are to pray and require you to enter on board his Majesty's shipp, the Newcastle, a fast as the Master Attendant shall signifie to you in writing under his hand the said ship's readiness to employ them and her want of them, all such seamen as shall be sent to you by our selves or her Commander untill the number at present belonging to her be completed. Two hundred of which is the complement allowed her for this present expedition. And for so doing this shall be your warrant [...] 9th of August 1670."
