Northern Plains Children's Beaded Moccasins
late 19th - early 20th century
lot of 6, includes:
a fully beaded pair of boot moccasins, thread and sinew-sewn on canvas and lined with a soft hide; beaded with a floral motif in colors of translucent plum, white, royal blue, and translucent light pink, height 5-1/2 inches, length 4-1/2 inches
a fully beaded example, thread and sinew-sewn on canvas and lined with a soft hide; beaded geometric design in colors of red, white, and navy blue against a sky blue ground, length 5 inches
a fully beaded pair, thread and sinew-sewn on hide with salt-and-pepper beadwork, length 3 inches
a pair, thread-sewn on softly tanned hide, lined with a cotton cloth and a buttoned opening down the outer edge of the vamps; beaded in colors of light pink, pea green, navy blue, light blue, burgundy, and a translucent marigold, length 4-1/2 inches
another, thread and sinew-sewn on hide lined with cotton cloth; with pinked upper edges, the cuff further beaded with abstract floral elements, the vamps and sides beaded with geometric elements, height 3 inches, length 6-1/2 inches
the last, thread and sinew-sewn on softly tanned hide, the soles constructed from commercially tanned hide; pinked cuff edges and geometric designs beaded on the vamps and side, length 6-1/2 inches
