**British Model No1 MkIII* SMLE Rifle
World War I
.303. 25.2" barrel length. SN: M7454. Blued arsenal refinish with polished bolt body mounting walnut semi-pistol grip stock with full length handguard. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by semi-detachable ten-shot magazines charged with stripper clips. Maker marking to the right side of the action body reads {Crown/GR}/ENFIELD/1916/SHTLE/III*. Right receiver is struck {Broad Arrow/EFD/16}, with further marks to left receiver including {Crown/GR}/{Crossed Flags}, and {Crown/95/E}. A further Canadian {Crossed Flags} mark is struck into the bolt handle, whose serial number matches the action body. Magazine is not numbered, showing only a mark to the follower reading {Broad Arrow}/{Crown}/2C/73. Right butt mounts a brass disc with unit marking reading P.W/8-19/2.W.R./542. A faint EFD mark remains visible on the wrist, with the stock having been sanded and refinished at some point. Markings to lower rear sight leaf obscured by pitting. A third Enfield EFD mark appears on the front sight blade. Stock is void of tools with no externally visible import markings.
