**Colt Model 1911 Pistol Mfg. in 1918
World War I
.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 253750. Blued metal refinish overall mounting diamond checkered walnut grips and standard military pattern sights. Single action short recoil operated autoloading pistol charged with single stack magazines. Marked on the left slide with two-line patent mark followed by COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. with the uncircled {Rampant Colt} logo behind the cocking serrations. Right slide struck MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY. Left frame struck with the JMG marking of inspector John M. Gilbert, consistent with many Colt 1911 pistols made during World War I. Barrel is struck SP on the left lug with left chamber marked PX-1, indicating it to be a WWII replacement. Retains the wide hammer and flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Item comes with no magazine. {C&R}
