Lot Description
Box Lock Flint Turn-Off Pocket Pistol by Parr
.45 Cal. 1.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Blued barrel with the remaining metal parts in the white mounting bag shaped walnut grips, and featuring light border scroll engraving on the frame flanks and cock. Single shot flintlock turn-off pistol displaying Birmingham proof marks on the frame and barrel. Right frame is engraved LONDON with the left engraved with the maker name PARR. Base of the grip has been struck with the letters VS. Item features a safety lock. John Parr worked in Liverpool circa 1765-1803, with his sons James and later William joining him to form Parr & Son circa 1795. The firm was listed as "Merchants and African Gun Manufacturers" and remained in business through about 1820. {ANTIQUE}
