American Civil War

Single shot percussion tip down barrel breechloading carbine with three leaf rear sight, pinched blade front sight and saddle ring on the reverse of the receiver. Standard three-line Massachusetts Arms Company marking on lower right of receiver and standard patent markings on lower left. Serial number on lower tang, along with 1865 date. The Maynard Carbine was one of the most successful breechloading percussion carbines of the American Civil War, due to its simple and robust design. The Maynard was also issued to the 11th Tennessee Cavalry (US). {ANTIQUE}
